My good homey and Co-worker at the Blind Barber, Gogy Esparza released his 1st Photo Book, LIGHTTIME, this past April. He had a dope release part at La Esquina here in NYC and anyone that made it out will tell you that it was a ZOO in there. In October, he made a trip out to Japan to put on a Photo Exhibition for LIGHTTIME in Tokyo, at Le Baron. In the video above, Gogy documented his trip, including the Making of the Photo Show and Party Footage.

Calabrese x Garbstore Bag / Calabrese’s Barber Shop

by
AJ the Barber
I’ve heard of Garbstore a while ago, but I must admit that I’m not too familiar with the brand Calabrese. But it did remind me of a good friend, fellow batber and old coworker, Chris Calabrese.

I used to work side by side with Calabrese at Frank’s Chop Shop but now he’s on to bigger and better things. He now has his own shop, Calabrese’s Barber Shop, in his hometown Keyport, NJ. The homeys from BarberStyle featured Calabrese’s Barber Shop a few months back. Check out the post here. they also had a brief interview with Chris for their Heads Up column, here. Unfortunately, I still haven’t gotten a chance to make the troop out to Keyport to check out Chris’s Shop. :( I plan on doing a more detailed post on Calabrese’s Barber Shop in the near future but seeing this bag made me think of him (pause) and I had to Shout the Big Homey out. Good work Chris! Keep bringing fame to that Calabrese name! Oh, and the other Calabrese, you guys are alright with me, too. ;) via Selectism via BarberStyle

“I struggled to understand the draw of this tiny barbershop until the massive steel door on the back wall rolled open with a giant rumble and revealed a teeming lounge of trendy scenesters reveling in an atmosphere of mystery and cliquishness. Immensely satisfied with being in the know, I moved on to my next inner struggle: which did I enjoy more, my great haircut or the complimentary blood orange rum punch that came with it?” -Toby Hervey, Gilt City Correspondent Get your 46% off Discount Here Now. via Gilt City | New York

Complex Magazine x Baxter Finley

by
AJ the Barber

Very recently, Complex sent their newly appointed grooming contributor, Colonel Cater, to Baxter Finley in LA to go over the Do’s and Don’t's and other proper barber shop etiquette with their Head Barber/Manager Jason Simao.

I met Jason a couple years back while he was at Freeman’s Sporting Club in the Lower East Side, NYC. He was cutting right next to my old homey, Miles. Jason is a good dude; he always showed support from the jump. He copped an ALE ‘Kids’ Tee off of me the first day we met. I’m glad to see he’s holding it down on the other Coast.

Shout to the Homey, Jason!
