SOLD OUT IN 2 HOURS!!

“I struggled to understand the draw of this tiny barbershop until the massive steel door on the back wall rolled open with a giant rumble and revealed a teeming lounge of trendy scenesters reveling in an atmosphere of mystery and cliquishness. Immensely satisfied with being in the know, I moved on to my next inner struggle: which did I enjoy more, my great haircut or the complimentary blood orange rum punch that came with it?” -Toby Hervey, Gilt City Correspondent Get your 46% off Discount Here Now. via Gilt City | New York

Haroshi x Nike Dunk

by
AJ the Barber
‘Primarily known for creating three-dimensional sculptures from recycled skate decks, haroshi recently created this version of the Nike Dunk. The special edition Dunk was actually created from decks belonging to skaters from Nike’s own pro skate team and include boards from the likes of: P-Rod, Lance Mountain, Eric Koston, Brian Anderson, Cory Kennedy and many more. The pair is actually modelled on a pair of haroshi’s own well-worn shoes. These detailed shots (exclusive to Hypebeast and of course Nike themselves), illustrate each of the creases, crimps and even the knotted laces worked into the sculptures. Interestingly the curvature of the decks accurately matches that of the used Dunk, which is portrayed as a hidden message within the art. A second subliminal message is found under X-ray scanning, where “Sole in soul” is revealed, making a pun the skate artwork that finds itself on the underside of the shoe.’ -Alex Milner (Hypebeast) Via Hypebeast

by
AJ the Barber
Frank Chapter 43 (out this Winter) will be guest curated by legendary NYC street photographer Ricky Powell. He has enthusiastically dubbed this the “Bug Out!” edition. ‘To celebrate the release of Chapter 43 as well as Ricky’s Silver Anniversary of “taking professional photos on a hangout tip,” select images from the Bug Out! chapter will be on display at Sacred Gallery in NYC this December. The show will kick off with The Ricky Powell Art Funk Explosion on Thursday, December 9th, featuring music by Chances with Wolves. Make sure you email your RSVP to events(at)frank151.com. The art show will run until the end of December, when Ricky Powell will conduct a World Famous Slideshow to bring the exhibit to a close.’ -Frank Green (Frank151) via Frank151 About a month and a half ago, the Rickster came by Frank’s Chop Shop to hang out and get a quick clean up by your boy (pause). Mr. Powell is a Character, he had me LOL the whole time – Literally. Here’s the video clip from that day. It was an honor to be able to kick it with the Rickster and give him a haircut. Dude is a Pioneer and I’ve been a fan of his work for years. Check out some classic flicks on his site or Google: ‘Ricky Powell’
