I know I’m a little behind here, but Recently while watching MTV Jams, I noticed the homey Gilbere Forte‘s video “Black Chukkas” came on. Here’s a screenshot from the Blackberry. Here’s another Blackberry pic, from the last time I gave Gilbere a Ceasar while I was Still at Frank’s Chop Shop. He has yet to Check your Boy (Me) at the Blind Barber. What’s up with that, Mr. Forte?! Lol Maybe next time you visit New York. (BTW, You are more than Welcome here, one of the owners is from South Jersey near Philly.) Check out one of his latest tracks, “Born In ’87″ below. Been bumping it all week at the Blind Barber. Gilbere Forte’ – Born In ’87 by gilbereforte Click the down arrow on the player to DOWNLOAD.

Nick, I’ve met more recently; I’ve the pleasure of cutting hair with him at the Blind Barber for the past few months. Major Props, Nick! This dude is an all-around talented individual.

Trying to both an Artist and a Business Man can be very difficult sometimes. But it is also very difficult trying to be able to Produce Art and staying in the know and being current with the Latest. I believe that all Artists/Producers start as Fans/Consumers but one man (or woman) can only Consume so much without letting it get in the way of actually Producing (or staying Productive). Especially with the oversaturation of shit (both good and bad) due to Technology and the Internet nowadays, it can be really difficult to keep up. And also make time to Do My Own Thing. On top of that, I have a dayjob as a Barber. I spend 40-50 hours a week working on other people’s image and often neglecting my own. (“long hair, don’t care” -Dwayne Carter) So I usually spend a ton of time on the internet (with the exception of these past few weeks, my computer crashed maybe it was nice to have a vacation from the laptop) but most of the things I learn and know about are through daily interaction with other people as a Barber. I’m blessed to have a day job that also works as resource to meeting and maintaing relationships with cool people who able to share valuable information. When it comes to music, my good homey (Asian) Dan is someone that really knows his shit. Either when conversing with Dan while in the Barber Chair, or when I’m lurking on his Blog, Asian Man Dan, He has put me on (and continues to put me on) to a lot of new music and saves me a lot of time and effort that I would have to spend searching on my own. Very recently, he made a blog post listing his favorite tunes of Last Year. Check out it out: Asian Dan’s Top 10 of 2010. A few weeks ago, Dan visited me at the Blind Barber to get his Holiday Haircut. Here’s the pic from that day. He gets a Classic, Gentleman Style cut. We go way back, Dan is more than just a client or friend; he’s like family. Our folks are good friends. About 12 years ago, when I was still pretty new to the Barber game, I used to cut his hair in my parents’ living room.
My good homey and Co-worker at the Blind Barber, Gogy Esparza released his 1st Photo Book, LIGHTTIME, this past April. He had a dope release part at La Esquina here in NYC and anyone that made it out will tell you that it was a ZOO in there. In October, he made a trip out to Japan to put on a Photo Exhibition for LIGHTTIME in Tokyo, at Le Baron. In the video above, Gogy documented his trip, including the Making of the Photo Show and Party Footage.
